as of late we have purchased a new car, taken baby steps into a new year that will lend many interesting things because sam is rapidly approaching his final semester as a student teacher in his masters program. i'm very proud of him and that he isn't okay with settling with just a job and is running after his dreams. i wish i could say the same for me right now but as it were there are many tiny land mines that i must dodge first before i can sit down with a fresh mind and new eyes and give the words that have already been written new life.
so i live in nashville where a lot of famous people show their faces. it must be said that i am not one to "keep my cool" when i see someone famous. two days ago i was in a local coffee shop about to leave when i realized ben folds was standing in the order line. BEN FOLDS! i love ben folds and had just spent a week watching him as a judge on the sing off where voices of lee SHOULD HAVE won but didn't, probably because they are from the south and probably because they are from a christian university. sad to say the winners were not the best by ANY stretch of the imagination but they won, in my opinion, because they were minorities. that's another argument for another time. back to ben folds....if i had only been a bit bolder and braver i might have hummed a line or two from annie waits or actually tapped him on the shoulder and told him how much i love his music and that he is actually a talent in a world full of talentless people. but realistically and sadly i am incapable of doing any of this without making a fool of myself and lets face it i am MUCH too old to make a fool of myself!
that was a thrill nonetheless.
so for the sake of rambling on and on and the fact that my cold is demanding some medication i will close the pages of this book, hopefully not for too long though.
good day and happy weekend. may your life and time be filled with things that make you smile.

I was hoping you would post again soon! Thank you. And yes, I will validate that Ben Folds is around. . . I served him coffee a year or so ago at Starbucks. You are a much bigger fan, though. :)
