pumpkin, scarves and rosy cheeks

there is something so charming and delicious about fall in Tennessee. i love to listen to my Colorado family members tell me how beautiful the aspen trees are when they shed their gracious green leaves for a brighter golden hue. my mother is usually the most vocal about the aspen trees and the beauty of a Colorado fall but as the words spill out of her mouth i can't help but think how the aspen trees, beautiful as they may be, pale in comparison to the colors that paint the rolling hills of Nashville, Tennessee. the colors here just sing. and if you haven't heard their song you truly have missed out on a beauty to be beheld. from vibrant yellows to dusky purples the south (and the east, because they too must be mentioned here) grows into its maturity as the season sheds its warmth to a fairer coolness that refreshes the spirit and warms the heart. and with it it brings everything pumpkin, scarves and rosy cheeks. oh, how i do love this season, this time of the year and how starbucks insists on selling you a pumpkin spice latte every time you visit.

so for all of you summer lovers, well, suck it up. you had your turn. and maybe, just maybe this year you will all see the light and leave the dark side. we have pumpkin spice lattes! you know you want one.
